A little bit of this and a little bit of that

Hi There…..Hope everyone is happy, healthy and generally loving life.  I have a lot of irons in the fire…all in various stages of completion (or not even started).  Soooooo I’m going to give you a glimpse into my world.

Remember the Chanel inspired jacket I’ve been working on?  Well it’s 85% done here is the front and back.  The black cording will go around top, bottom and pockets of the jacket.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you can see the quilted lining which is pretty awesome….at least I think so.  I hope to have this finished by the end of this month.

I joined The Amazing Coat Sew Along and now I’m working on my very first coat.  I am super excited challenging myself using more advance sewing skills and to be in a peer group with such amazing talent icing on the cake.  About the coat…… I had originally for planned it to look like the pattern picture but then decided to take a walk on the wild side and do something completely different.  I have a lot of black in my closet but nothing teal so when I found this tweed fabric and coordinating silk charmeuse…it was a wrap.  The original version is very similar to a coat dress that Michelle Obama wore.  If I can find a similar fabric – I am going to make that version as well.

To make sure that this is a quality coat I even brought out the big guns.  I’ll be making sure my sleeves are set to perfection by using some couture techniques 🙂

Oh and before I go….I owe you guys the final pictures of my sewing studio.  My chair arrived a few weeks ago and I can’t say enough good things about it.  The cover fabric is custom, it’s rocker and recliner so it I can sit comfortably and hem, baste, use my seam ripper or take a nap…I can do in it my own chair.

I will be taking final pics of my studio and will be sharing the whole enchilada.  Hoping that this will hold you until I return from New Orleans…looking forward to seeing my BFF from high school and eating everything that isn’t nailed down.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by.

Gotta Go…Gotta Sew.
