Duster and Swimsuit Cover Up

I fell in love with the idea of a duster and swimsuit cover up a while ago.  After checking out  several versions on the blogs and I decided to give it a go.  I used Simplicity 8059 view D and a delightfully breezy sweater knit purchased from SAS Fabrics.  The moment I saw the fabric I knew that it was meant to be a cover up of some type.  Feast your eyes on the heavenly colors and imagine yourself on the beach in a swimsuit and your favorite adult beverage.

The pictures were taken during a quick trip to L.A. last month to surprise my daughter for her birthday.  It also happened to be a record breaking 99 degrees.  So try to imagine taking pictures when there is no breeze to be found and you are sweating like crazy.  🙂  Sigh the things I endure for this here blog.

What do you do when there is no breeze?  Make your own damn breeze 🙂

Close up of the twin needle action.  The pattern called for top stitching but I was feeling lazy and wanted to hurry and get this done.

The ties are functional however at the time of the shoot, I could not find the bling I needed to take them over the top.   Yesterday, I found the perfect beads for the ties at JoAnn’s.   I’ll post an update to show you how they look.

View from the balcony – if you squint and the day is clear you can see the ocean 🙂  I wore white capri’s and top as a palate cleanser.  The duster is a stand out on it’s own and you don’t want anything that will compete with the look.  Wear shorts, jeans or how about this one….a swim suit and trust that you will be fabulous.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll be back with bling for the ties.  You’re gonna love it.

Gotta Go…Gotta Sew
