I had another opportunity to contribute to SewnMag Anniversary November/December 2018. This time the challenge was to hack a pattern using lace. I decided to make a Casual Top & Simple Sleeve Hack.
I used Butterick View D. This was a very simple project and I knocked it out in no time. Since the hack was limited to the sleeves, I simply cut the sleeve creating three pieces.
I used the middle section as the insert for the lace. I also added 1/4 seam allowance to ensure proper sleeve length.
This is a two piece sleeve so I simply created a mirror image.
Here is a close up of the lace insertion.
Here’s the finished product.
Very easy and satisfying project when you want to whip out a cute top.
