Oh Sew Pretty Chanel Inspired Jacket

I’m a sucker for classic looks and clean lines.  I had been looking for an elegant cross-over jacket.  By cross-over I mean it can be dressed up or down….worn to work or church…..with a pair of jeans and flats….or heels.  This jacket hit the mark and then some it’s Vogue 7975.  My first go round with this jacket was very intense – I wanted it to be special and a keepsake so I went full out.  By full out – I mean that the coat is unique…. 90% of it is hand stitched very little machine stitching was done.  The quilted lining was done by sewing on the right side of the fabric along the fabric design lines which forms the quilting on the inside of the jacket lining.  I worked with a tweed fabric which by nature is very unstable – it unravels on the edges leaving you with hardly anything to sew which is problematic.  I figured out a few work a rounds and completed the jacket.  I think it came out very nice and it has been entered into my personal Closet of Fame 🙂

Here is an inside view of the quilting and a small fraction of the hand work that created this special jacket

The dress is from my closet – I did not make it.  🙂  The clip-on earrings are vintage.  I found them at a small antique store about 5 years ago.  I thought they’d look nice with the outfit so there you have it.  As always – I appreciate the time you spend with me and will always strive to do my very best.

Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for stopping by.

Gotta Go….Gotta Sew!!!

  1. Great work – you must have a lot of patience to hand sew a jacket! Looks really lovely on you and I bet Coco herself would be proud 🙂

    1. Indeed it does Eleanor. It was a test of fortitude and patience. Thank you and I hope Coco approves. ☺️
