Let’s take a look at this Green Striped Beauty. I’m channeling Three’s Company – do you remember that show? It was one of my favorites.
I am going crazy for tops right now and cannot make enough of them. Wanted something fun and easy to wear so I chose Butterick 5652 view E. The caftan on the pattern cover reminds me of Mrs. Roper on Three’s Company :-). I loved the way she swished around in her caftan but I wanted a shorter – hipper version. You know I had to find a way to jazz it up. 🙂
The fabric was from last year’s haul from my favorite store in L.A. You know which one…right? Yep SAS Fabrics. I ♥ this store.
I swear I am the slowest ever when it comes to turning in assignments on time. The top was due due in May and I’m just now posting. The problem is that when you sew many items and have no time for pictures – you develop a backlog or a queue. The bad thing about a queue is that you have to threaten your photographer with bodily harm if he does not take your pics when you want them done.
The top came together very quickly. Who has time to bother with matching stripes and such – so instead of cutting 2 pieces for the front….I cut one on the fold and viola. Next, I added bias tape to the neck for stability and to prevent stretching. The arms are two simple openings – I serged, created a narrow hem and it was done. To make things more interesting I tilted the pockets for fun. How about that optical illusion. The Sunnies I’m wearing are by Warby Parker. These are called Madison and the color is Rum Cherry.
Nice length for butt coverage and the handkerchief hemline is really cute.
How about a lil plie 😉
I wore this Green Striped Beauty on a quick trip to L.A. a couple of weeks ago and it was confiscated by my daughter. A pair of black pixie pants from Old Navy and a pair of sandals and I’m ready for whatever.
Thanks for stopping by – I’ll be back soon.
Gotta Go….Gotta Sew
